ASRI Mobile Clinic Car Ambles

After the departure of the Mobile Clinic, the weather in Sukadana often rained. So the terrain on the road to the location becomes increasingly difficult. Along the way to Pangkalan Jihing and Matan Jaya, the access roads used are mostly oil palm roads and bauxite roads. Wet red soil, high mud and puddles are often encountered. There were even fallen trees across the middle of the road. This makes it difficult for the vehicle to move and you have to be extra careful.

Thankfully the trip went smoothly. However, on the way home on Thursday (15/03/2018) at around 15.30 WIB the Strada car we were using collapsed in the mud in Rembayan village. The condition of the road was badly damaged, coupled with the old condition of the car, and in the end our car got stuck and couldn't move.

It was getting late, we tried to contact ASRI friends in Sukadana. Finally two other staff, Samsul and Pak Usuf, came to help and picked us up using an MPV car. Unfortunately, the MPV car they used turned out to be unable to pass through this road.

Occasionally a puff of black smoke comes out of the exhaust of the Strada car when Mr Faisal accelerates or reverses the car. Blocks of wood, stones and bushes have also been tried to be stacked so that car tires that are submerged in the mud can come out. But the car still didn't move. Even trying to pull the pulley several times failed to 'free' the Strada car. So we chose to evacuate the Strada car the next day with other ASRI staff using a 4-WD ambulance.

To evacuate the collapsed Strada car, ASRI deployed ten male staff ranging from general staff to conservation. Don't forget to bring other equipment that might help the evacuation process, such as a hoe and rope.

After the morning meeting, they left using an MPV and ambulance. When we arrived there, it turned out that another Strada car had collapsed and was stuck in the mud.

Long story short, ASRI Strada cars and other cars can be evacuated by 4-WD ambulance. The ASRI team arrived in a Strada car in Sukadana at around one in the afternoon. The condition of the Strada car at that time was not only dirty and full of mud, but also damaged and had to be repaired immediately (again).

The Strada car, which has accompanied and helped the work of the ASRI program for 10 years, no longer has the performance it once had. Every month you have to go back and forth to the repair shop for repairs which costs quite a lot of money. If this Strada car is damaged and can no longer operate, how many ASRI programs could be delayed and the community would be disappointed, such as seed collection activities, MSME shopping, mobile clinics, DOT monitoring and many more.
