“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”
William Shakespeare
Dear Life Force Guardians,
I wanted to share with you my recent experience at Alam Sehat Lestari (ASRI), which has been nothing short of profound!
During my visit, I was filled with immense gratitude for the opportunity to be of service. While my initial intention was to help protect the rainforest and its habitat, my trip deepened my understanding that supporting local communities is key to achieving that goal.
I had the pleasure of traveling with my dear friend, an international photographer @StillVika, who helped capture our journey through her lens. We were warmly welcomed with open arms, and we quickly realized that we could be of service in many different ways.
We learned that the program needed help with advocacy, so we made sure to interview key program personnel to share their work with the rest of the world. I will be following up with a newsletter soon to describe their programs and their impact in more detail. When we met the program's staff, they expressed their honor and appreciation for the mural we painted for them, which aims to raise awareness of their mission. They shared that the mural not only makes them feel appreciated for their work, but it also serves as a daily motivator as they come to the center.
ASRI has an education program for kids and teens, which focuses on conservation and the connection between humans and rainforest health. Vika and I conducted a series of art workshops, including photography, painting, and finding purpose, to provide the kids with tools and skills to empower them to use imagery to amplify their voices for nature. Thanks to a generous donation of cameras from The Scan Truck and Virtually Conscious Projects, we were able to gift cameras to Alam Sehat Lestari program, enabling them to continue amplifying their voices. In addition, StillVika used her talents to photograph portraits of the staff for their online platforms, giving a face to the change-makers.
As I extended a helping hand to others, I felt a warm and glowing sensation in my heart. It brought me joy to witness the positive change we could create, no matter how small, and it reaffirmed my sense of purpose and meaning in life. The opportunity to be of service to others constantly inspired me and fueled my personal growth as I learned, developed new skills, and deepened my connections with fellow human beings. Being of service was a humbling and gratifying experience that brought me a profound sense of joy, fulfillment, and interconnectedness with the world around me.
Your continued support means the world to me, and I look forward to sharing more updates with you in the future. Also, a big thank you to the dear donors who made this trip possible!
Sending life force energy,
Ekaterina Sky
