Community of Environmental Lovers in North Kayong Plants Trees Together to Commemorate Indonesian Tree Planting Day 2022
By the end of 2022, how many trees have Friends of ASRI planted? More than 10 or none at all?
As we all know, trees not only produce oxygen, but also prevent climate change. If asked when is the time to plant a tree, the answer is now, as the Chinese saying goes.
“The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now. The right time to plant trees was twenty years ago. The second best time is now." Chinese proverb

Based on the important role of trees in life, 30 North Kayong young people from various communities gathered at ASRI to carry out planting in Sedahan Jaya Village. This planting activity was held to commemorate Indonesian Tree Planting Day which fell on November 28.

Participants consisting of ASRI Teens and 5 environmental lover communities in North Kayong, namely, Langit Senja Community, Kalimantan Pendaki Community (KPK), KOMUSA Community, Semberuang Pendaki Village Children's Community, and Sispada Grepala SMAN 3 Simpang downstream gathered at ASRI at around 8 am , then leave together for the planting location.
Once there, Hendriadi or familiarly known as Bang Hen as ASRI's reforestation coordinator welcomed the participants and gave a short explanation about the history of ASRI reforestation, the types of reforestation that ASRI carries out, the criteria for seeds that can be planted, the correct way to plant tree seedlings, and etc.
The total number of trees planted is 40 tree seedlings of various types such as Ubah, Cempedak, Rambai, Longan, and Kasai which have been planted. Of course, with every tree planted there is hope that every participant prays and hopes for a greener future for the Earth.
After planting the trees, participants were invited to visit the ASRI nursery in Sedahan Jaya Village, where this nursery can accommodate approximately 50,000 tree seedlings. There, all the participants were seen actively asking about the types of tree seedlings being cared for.
Those of you who live far from the forest can also plant trees like them!
